What is a Bat Detector? Micro bats that are found in Michigan use a type of sonar called echolocation. They use this to navigate in the dark, capture darting insects in flight, avoid predators and evade obstacles. A bat detector can pick up the sonar that is not able to be heard by the human ear. On occasion, this tool is useful during our bat inspection or exclusion services. Provided that the bats are using echolocation in the attic or as they fly from your home, we are able to hone in on their activity. |
