Michigan Critter CatchersTM, is an independent, locally-owned and operated specialty wildlife control business servicing SE Michigan.
We are properly licensed and permitted through three separate Departments of the State of Michigan: Department of Natural Resources, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.
From 2007-2018, we have been the only bat exclusion company approved by the Organization for Bat Conservation, located behind the Cranbrook Institute of Science in Bloomfield Hills, MI. OBC closed in 2018.
In 2008, we established a Bat Educational Grant to bring OBC's Live Bat Experience into Michigan Nature Centers and other venues. We continue the support to this day, as a way to give back to the community and inspire future scientists. Over 53 events have been hosted or are scheduled in SE Michigan through 2017.
A photograph of our work was featured in Bats of Michigan. This book was authored by Dr. Allen Kurta from Eastern Michigan University, and he is considered the authority on bats in our state.
Through our Scholarship program, we supported a research project at the Center for North American Bat Research and Conservation. This bat center is located at Indiana State University and staffed by one of the largest teams of bat biologists in North America. In 2012, the program was made available to students at Michigan Universities.
Great Lakes Bat Festival Sponsor (2007 through 2017).
We stand behind our work and all bat exclusions include a 1 year, no-hassle service agreement.
We are active members of the Midwest Bat Working Group. The group was newly formed in 2009 to address issues related to white nose syndrome and wind farm effects on bats.
We attended the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 Michigan Bat Working Group meetings at the US Fish and Wildlife Service office to obtain information on the latest rabies and white nose syndrome. We were the only private industry represented at the meeting.
We have been active Members of the National Wildlife Control Operators Association (NWCOA) since 2006. Dave is one of the few CWCP's in the state of Michigan.
We have been a member of Michigan Animal Damage Control Association (MADCA), since 2011. Dave is a Certified Member which requires passing an exam to demonstrate competency.
We carry liability insurance and employees are covered by workers compensation insurance.
